Hardware
System Requirements
Baseline: use a 64-bit OS, a CPU with SSE4.1, 8 GB RAM or more, and a GPU with working Vulkan or OpenGL drivers. Light 2D games need far less than heavy 3D titles at high internal resolution—the lists below orient you; they are not a guarantee for every game.
Minimum
- 64-bit OS
- SSE4.1-capable CPU
- 8 GB RAM
- GPU with Vulkan or OpenGL support
- Enough free disk space for saves, memcards, and per-game settings (varies)
Recommended
- Modern multi-core CPU (higher IPC helps)
- 16 GB RAM or more for heavy multitasking
- Dedicated GPU for upscaling and effects
- Latest stable GPU drivers
- SSD for faster loads (optional but noticeable)
Notes
- Integrated graphics: Often enough for native or modest upscaling; lower internal resolution if you are GPU-bound.
- Laptops: Power profiles and thermal limits can cap performance—plug in and use high-performance mode when testing.
- Next: See Features for what those requirements unlock in practice.
